F I C K A

THE PROJECT WAS TO WORK ON THE OBJECT WITHOUT FORGETTING THE ORIGINAL FOOTBOARD. AT THE BEGINNING I CONSIDERED ERASING THE ORIGINAL ASSEMBLY CONNECTIONS.

Then I focused on the footboard’s function which appeals the bottom part of the body. I chose to create an object that appeals the top and the bottom part of the body. So I transformed the BEKVAM from IKEA to bring new functions for a personal use. I chose a reversed symmetry to obtain a simple and harmonious shape, and open the possibilities from its original function to various uses like a piece of furniture to help you put on your shoes, a trinket bowl, a hanging rail.

Values

I created a slight bowl in the wood on the top shelf, to encourage dropping one or more objects on it. To give it a playful look, I also created openings that act as handles and make it easy to drop on them.
