WITH THIS PROJECT I WANTED TO CREATE A SEAT THAT LOOKS LIKE A STOOL AND A SIMPLE SEAT, AND TO WORK ON THE HARMONISATION OF THE TWO MATERIALS.
I wanted to create harmony and duality in one single objet. With the use of two materials that are totally opposites ( wood is natural and plaster is created). The playful aspect is an inspiration. I considered this object as a construction game, with you put all the elements together by yourself to create the seat. The user and the object are linked. The idea came out of the construction game fo babies, and more particularly form the via wooden cubes. It is easy to put the cubes together with the two elastics.
The goal was to create a geometrical game with these elastic ties, increasing the number of ridges and visual lines on the cube. Its shape allowed me to confront these two materials with four identical volumes, to bring stability and isometry. This is how I got a perfectly balanced shape.
